Be alerted when visitors enter your property, welcome or unwelcome. An early warning allows you to get on top of a potential situation before it unfolds, rather than dealing with the aftermath. For great customer service, greet valued clients and guests as they arrive

Parabeam LITE
For short-range applications up to 150m
A more affordable model for lifestyle blocks, residential and commercial sites where the range between a beam-set and indoor base receiver is relatively short. Indoor receiver can monitor up to 4 beam-sets. Hand manufactured in Kapiti Coast, NZ. 3 year warranty

Parabeam STANDARD
For medium-range applications up to 300m
Our most popular model for farms, lifestyle blocks etc. Recommended maximum operating range 300m in line of sight conditions. Indoor receiver can monitor up to 4 beam-sets. Hand manufactured in Kapiti Coast, NZ. 3 year warranty

Parabeam XR-2500
For long-range applications (kms)
Our longest range model, the XR-2500, communicates up to 2.5kms in perfect line of sight conditions. Obstacles such as hills, sheds, walls and dense bush will reduce range. If site is extremely challenging range can increased up to 3x using a MegaBeam antenna at the receiving end. Signal repeaters are also available. Overall the best solution for challenging sites. Hand manufactured in Kapiti Coast, NZ. 3 year warranty

Frequently Asked Questions
If you can’t find the answer you are looking for, please call a technician on the NZ or AUS free phone number below.
How much sunlight do your systems require to stay charged through winter?
The solar panels supplied with our kits are rated to keep both “ends” of the beam-set powered through months of gloomy weather, so theres no need for direct sunlight as such. However, if your site is particularly shady we can supply larger solar panels, or panels with much longer cables
How long do beam-set batteries last?
The battery packs supplied with a new Parabeam kit tend to last around 3.5 years, give or take a couple of months. (4 years would be an upper limit) Batteries are covered under the 3 year warranty. If you are experiencing charging issues on a system that is less than 3 years old, it is unlikely to be a faulty battery. Please call tech support
How long does is take to install a beam-set and what tools do I need?
Installation takes around 1 hour if you are taking your time. Usually the first 10 minutes will be spent scoping out mounting locations. You will need basic tools: side-cutters, craft knife, Philips screwdriver, small hammer, 8mm spanner or pliars, 8mm hex socket and rachet wrench, or an 8mm hex socket driver for cordless drills. A multimeter is optional. If you are a technician installing a system for a client, we recommend carrying out a few quick electrical and beam-strength tests before leaving the site.
Why are point-to-point beams (beam-break type) superior to cheap motion-activated gate alarms?
Motion activated gate alarms use a PIR sensor. (Passive Infra-Red, or Pyro-electric sensor) This kind of sensor is looking for a fluctuating heat signature when a warm object passes a plastic lens located in front of the sensor. Because a PIR relies on a moving heat source to activate, performance is affected by temperature and weather. In cold they tend to be too senstitive. (for example, detecting a cow breathing in the next paddock) In hot weather the PIR can have trouble detecting a vehicle because of heat waves radiating from the ground. Wafts of different temperature air can also generate false alarms. Overall this type of sensor tends to be erratic outdoors, and should only be used in sensor lights and less critical applications. By contrast, a point-to-point beam or “photoelectric beam,” requires a solid object to break an invisible laser-like beam for a certain time before an alert is raised. It can not activate simply because animals or plants are moving around nearby, thereby making it far superior to the PIR
How easy is it to align your beams once they are installed?
For beam distances under 10 metres, alignment is almost a simple matter of pointing the two beam units at eachother and carrying out a test to see how strong the beam is. If it passes the test, (meaning the beam-units are adequately aligned) screws are tightened to lock them into position. If the beam-strength is not quite optimium, some minor tweeks may be required and the test repeated. It should take no more than 4 minutes to align and check a beam-set at 10m or less. For longer distances, such as 30m it may take around 8 minutes. Full details are in the installation instructions
Can your systems be mains-powered instead of solar?
Beam-sets can be operated from a 5V DC supply wired into the solar panel input connectors on both beam-units. (with no batteries installed inside the beam-units) Because both beam-units need power, and power is typically only available on one side of the drive, a buried cable will be required to power to the other side. If your main concern is heavy shade, we can supply regulated solar panels having much higher output power. This option would be far simpler than hard-wiring.
